On Simplicity

2026/4/8 · thoughts

Simplicity is not the absence of complexity — it’s the art of hiding it well.

Good code reads like prose. Great code reads like poetry. The best code is the code you never had to write.

Every abstraction is a trade-off. Every layer adds weight. The skill is knowing when to add and when to remove.

As Antoine de Saint-Exupéry said: "Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away."
